Roger Quemby

I joined Hatmill in 2018, having operated as an independent consultant since 2007. Before moving into consultancy, I worked with the major logistics automation suppliers where I headed up their solution design teams, and this provides me with valuable insight into how integrators operate and what they need to optimise their engagement. I specialise in operational reviews, automation system design and development, procurement, and vendor management.

I joined Hatmill in 2018, having operated as an independent consultant since 2007. Before moving into consultancy, I had worked with the major logistics automation suppliers where I headed up their solution design teams. I specialise in operational reviews, automation system design and development, procurement, and vendor management. My clients include Nike, Amazon, British American Tobacco, Urban Outfitters, Diageo, TNT, Parcelforce, and Yodel plus numerous smaller businesses, and I’ve been heavily involved in the design and implementation of new solutions including fully automated National Distribution Centre’s, Parcel Sort Centres, high capacity mini-load stores and Order Fulfilment Centres. I have travelled extensively throughout my career, supporting clients, in Europe, Africa, North and South America, Russia, China and South Korea.

Some recent project examples include:

  • Operational review and adaption of equipment infrastructure to meet the growth of B2C business for a global sportswear manufacturer
  • Supporting the design, procurement, and implementation of a highly automated, multi-channel order fulfilment system of a global fashion retailer.
  • Project managing the implementation of two sortation systems for a national parcel carrier.
  • Operational review of a national brewery storage facilities, resulting in the redesign of the main facility and the creation of a new “out of town” deep storage site.
  • Design development and procurement support for sortation centres for a global digital retailer.

Being part of Hatmill and knowing the great depth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm within the team, I’m able to focus on my main area of expertise, evaluation, design, and vendor management. My main focus is to deliver well-conceived, pragmatic, flexible solutions and work with potential suppliers to ensure that suitable technology is applied, is competitively delivered and supported.

Working as part of a broader, highly experienced team, I am able to remain focussed on my specific areas of expertise, confident in the knowledge that the other aspects of the assignment are in safe hands and being given the same level of attention and consideration.

By improving their demand forecast, we helped one client save £3m in agency staffing costs (that’s an 18% reduction).
