Rebecca Jones

I joined Hatmill in February 2022 after gaining several years’ experience in a variety of operational and project roles within the Postal and Defence Sectors.

Delivering optimal business solutions for dynamic client requirements.

I began my career with Royal Mail Operations Management Graduate Scheme, gaining insight of the end-to-end operations of the mail pipeline. This allowed me to understand the time-critical challenges faced throughout, driven by legal requirements. I then began the role of Production Demand Manager for Bristol Mail Centre which allowed me to specialise in demand and supply planning.

In 2019, I was responsible for delivering a peak plan for the West of England. This included overseeing the fit-out, and resourcing, of an additional operational building for Bristol Mail Centre processing operations, liaising with stakeholders across the pipeline to ensure risk mitigation plans were implemented and collaboration with Trade Unions to avoid IR issues.

In 2020, I joined Ministry of Defence as a Support Solutions Consultant. This role concentrated on optimising the through-life support of major MOD assets, in terms of cost and availability. The products and tools used by this internal consultancy drew on Integrated Business Planning methodology, aligning client product portfolios with demand profiles and supply planning. This gave me a high level understanding of the importance of long-term and strategic planning, as well as the importance of standards such as PAS:280 to deliver optimal support solutions.

Additionally, while working for MOD, I gained PGDip in Through-life System Sustainment and a CMI Level 5 in Professional Consulting.

Career Highlights include:

  • South West peak planning project – overseeing Royal Mail Christmas planning for the West England Region, leading Senior Leadership Team meetings and liaising with stakeholders across the pipeline.
  • Involvement in Automation projects within Royal Mail – such as the introduction of parcel sorting belts and the launch of a Parcel Sorting Machine.
  • Platform Intervention within MOD – proposing options to deliver multi-million pound benefits and improve asset availability.

Drawing on experience gained during my career to deliver innovative solutions to a wide range of clients.

By improving their demand forecast, we helped one client save £3m in agency staffing costs (that’s an 18% reduction).
